Air Astana Becomes First Airline in the Region to Receive IATA ISP Certification

Air Astana has received IATA ISP certification for sustainable procurement under the International Air Transport Association’s Integrated Sustainability Program. The airline became the first in Central Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the third worldwide, to achieve the certification.
The certification process assessed Air Astana’s integration of environmental, social and governance factors into procurement decisions, supplier evaluation methods, corporate governance processes and sustainability practices across its supply chain. The airline’s approach is based on its Sustainability and ESG-Based Procurement Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct.
Air Astana CEO Ibrahim Canliel described the certification as an important milestone for the company, noting that the airline was proud to become the first in Central Asia and the CIS, and the third globally, to achieve it.
Since 2024, Air Astana has also organised its ESG Awards to recognise suppliers and business partners demonstrating high sustainability standards. The programme aims to promote stronger ESG practices and encourage the sharing of best practices.
